Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: i agree with mike, what you are doing does seem to be pointless because the idea of the deadlift is to build raw pulling power IMO. If you dont have an olympic bar and free weights in your gym then i suggest dropping deadlifts and using that bar to perform other prosterior chain movements such as good mornings, SLDL etc. Also you can use db's to perform heavier romanian deadlifts, SLDL etc. edit- just read your post above me, i would do what i said above, then when you join a new gym which has an olypic bar and weights then start with deads.
