If you do sets of 2-4, then you are going to contract muscle fibers in a similar pattern. If you are consistently training in higher rep ranges, you are using a different recruitment pattern. If you want to train for endurance...what would you do? You would train at a lower weight and shoot for high reps. So if you want the weight you use for a set of 1 to go up, then you should do high weight, maybe 90-95% for a set of 2.
