Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: I really like westside and have made good gains on it since last fall. I will say that like any other training, you will have to kind of feel it out before you know what is best for you... Here are a few suggestions I would make. Dont use a whole bunch of ME movements, I really like using 4 and staying at each one for only one week at a time. This way you can see your progress monthly, and you dont waste abunch of time not knowing if you are getting stronger or not. I would address your biggest weakness as the 2nd exercise on ME day. Example: my weakness on bench is lockout, I do 3 sets of 5(short of failure but heavy) w/ pin presses, 4 boards(floor or bench), 5 boards(floor or bench).... This has definately helped me out alot.... Dont limit yourself to the basic 2 days of ME work and 2 days of DE work... I love it that way; however, quite a few people do better substituting a rep day in for the DE day.... Lastly, dont kill yourself on ME day, and try to limit failing(Im not saying dont push it to the limit, Im just saying be smart).... Get 3 lifts above 90%, a good hard strain, and let it be... come back a month later and destroy your PR....
