I would say if talk to your back doc and get his or her opinion on the issue since they are going to be much more familiar with the conditiion of your spine, but in my experience staying in shape and lifting weights has dramatically improved my life. The thing that sux the most is my right lat is much larger than my left as my curve is right at my right scapula, which makes it almost impossible to have good symmetry.
