Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: First off all i would just like to say that this is an excellent thread! And i beleive if this keeps going we can support each other and help us through tough times... I guess i've always been on the biggish side, i was a pretty large kid when i was a toddler but not really fat, I've always sort of had a chubbyish face but that was all. I guess when i was about 8 or 9 was when my 'friends' started calling me fat. I didn't think I was fat at the time so i argued back that I wasn't, lol. But in reality, my diet at this time was terrible. On the way home from school, my mum would stop at the shop so i could get a snack...well my daily afterschool 'snack' usually consisted of a medium sized bag of potato chips, a chocolate bar, a 600ml bottle of soda and maybe some candy. I was never into sports so I never really burnt any of it off...and I did not have a fast metabolism like the other kids. Well this ridiculous lifestyle set me up for a weight problem which i am still battling to this day! By the time i had turned 12 I was FAT...maybe not obese as I never felt that way...but i had the body of an extremely chubby, butch, pre-pubescent girl(fat ass, fat face, tits)! To make matters worse i had grown my hair long so people often mistook me for a girl. This pissed me off! Then one day when i was at the pinnacle of my weight problem..I decided to make a change, a REAL change...I had often in the past tried doing 15 minutes of the exercise bike every now and then, or doing a few crunches, but THIS TIME i would make serious change...I was about 13 and had just gone for a bike ride which left me extremely puffed out which is why i tended to steer clear of exercise..but this time, i liked it, I felt a sense of accomplishment which made me feel powerful...I like this, so i straight away got on the treadmill and did another 30 minutes, I felt very exhausted, but in a good way. That night i went to bed and decided i was going to make a routine, i had no idea about diet or exercise and all i had was a couple of light plastic hand weights which i used to do a full body workout of about 100 or s reps for each exercise(lol) every day as well as doing 100 crunches when i woke up each morning. Well after reading up a bit more on the internet and doing alot of research, i learnt that i needed a high protein diet and to train with heavy weights for low reps. I was now 14 years old and had lost a considerable amount of weight(i did not have scales but i could tell by looking in the mirror). Well I am now 15 going on 16 and am constantly learning. And although i don't want to sound cocky, I have gained have ENOURMOUS knowledge of bodybuilding over the past 2 years and have tried keto, 60/30/10, 40/40/20 and various other diets on and off. Have trained using H.I.T, Max-OT, and various other training styles. But sadly...I have made almost ZERO progress over the last 2 years.... And i find this is due to willpower, I have never managed to stick to a clean diet for more than 1 week without cheating. And when i cheat I go CRAZY, i eat like I'm going to the chair. Also if I happen to give in and cheat during the week I do the same thing and think "I've already cheated now, I might as well go all out and start fresh next week" Then the same thing happens the next week etc. But the really sad part is that my progress is inhibited by 1 day a week of eating this way when I know people who eat in the manner everyday! And i believe this is greatly because of my eating habits and lifestyle when i was a kid, you think that i could of stuffed up my thyroid or something because of this? I don't put on any weight, but i don't burn any off either. My face is not as fat as it used to be, no double chin, slightly chubby cheeks, muscular hard arms, large pecs instead of boobs, but still large rolls of fat especially on my lower abs and lovehandles only when i sit down, and i still find myself constantly pulling my t-shirt down straight and sucking my stomach in so my midsection looks flat. So basically, i'm still trying to burn off fat accumulated from 3 years ago??? How is this possible?? You would think my body would fix itself by now. Anyway, sorry for the long ass post and thank you for listening to my story. Good luck with your battle of the bulge!
