Agreed on the elbow positioning being the key to recruitment. As for torso angle, the parallel position requires much great stabilizing strength from the lower back than the 45 degree position. Your resistance will decrease but your ROM will increase. When you plateau on a parallel position, give the 45 degree version a go. It will provide a good variety.
