Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: There are a lot of businesses that use that same business model. They call it focusing on their core competencies. Now sometimes it is BS and just an excuse to outsource certain activities, but it often makes sense. In the business world for instance, if you are outstanding at selling, but your manufacturing side is not so good, you examine those parts of the manufacturing that you do not do well and outsource those. THose that run smooth and efficiently and are a good use of resources (money and talent) you keep. If you are building this kind of widget and that kind of widget and some kind of wadget, perhaps focusing on widgets and gettting rid of wadget production would be good for the company. To put it in perspective, if you really like the buying part, and are good at it, focus all your energy there, and consider outsourcing the side that you are not as interested in, the selling side.----consign.
