Did you check and see if there is a volume thing on the front of the CD player? My old one had a little wheel on the front to control the volume of that Cd Player.

That is an intriguing possibility. There are some odd things on the front of the computer but I never suspected there might be a volume control on it! I will check that Tuesday when I go back into work. (I close my store on Sundays and Mondays.)
Thanks for your input on this. I can't wait to see if that is the problem!
