One person may mark items purely so that they make their required profit, regardless of book or market value. Another may charge whatever the books indicate Some go by eBay prices Others look around the malls and average things out Others guestimate I know that with my items, I try to carefully research what others are charging (retail and ebay) and compare with BV where possible(not really any updated books on the subject tho!) I also have to look at the replacement cost and how hard it may be to replace the item, as many of these pieces are very hard to come by As an example, an Apollo portrait powder jar that I have sold in the past arounf $150, sold for $356 ON EBAY!!!! last week with a bunch of bidders fighting so all these things are factors http://www.almasattic.net eBAY http://stores.ebay.com/almasatticantiquescollectibles?refid=store BLOG http://almasatticantiques.blogspot.com Original of the message was taken from http://www.auctionbytes.com/forum/phpBB/ Previous Post: Thanks for the info.
