Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: Hi, Country Joe - Used to sell mostly furniture at the B&Ms but hauling furniture around was getting too difficult esp. when you have minimal help. Even at the malls you had to do it yourself. Most of that is gone now. Presently, I have retired dinnerware patterns, kitchenware, prints framed and unframed, tons of older books (used to sell on Amazon but the fees and penny sellers got to me), vintage costume jewelry and handbags, some deco, some fun kitsch and newer collectible plates and mugs ... the child in me also still likes the "cute" stuff ... but basically about 20 years of accumulation and collecting. Part of it is needing to pare down a lot and the other is to make some extra cash. If I could do this full time, I would love to - that way, if I got mad at the boss, I could get mad at myself! But obviously I'm not there yet and far too conservative I suppose. So, it's sort of like a general store for now. I don't specialize in any "smalls" category - just bookends and those I can't bring myself to sell yet... Hence, trying to find a mall that fits my items without being all over the place. Hubby wants to have a giant yard sale but I wouldn't be able to put up the "bottom feeders" as you put it so succinctly earlier. Plus we've done a few over the years and it hasn't been worth the time, effort or aggravation. (Will you take 10 cents for this?? On a 25 cent item... okay so, that was 15 years ago.) Yes, I mean to keep learning all I can on these boards. vlo Original of the message was taken from http://www.auctionbytes.com/forum/phpBB/ Previous Post: Thanks for sharing your experience Jana.
