Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: I have an Ebay Store, and the announced fee increase did not cause me to consider closing on Ebay. I have been on all the malls you mentioned, and had fewer sales there than on Ebay. To clarify, I am making at least the same sales on Ebay than I did on TIAS, RL or GoA with 3 times the inventory. Prices I've kept pretty much the same (some lower to reflect changing demand over the years, but some higher for the same reason). Ebay is no longer a venue to use to drive traffic to your mall shops -- you are no longer permitted to link to malls in your listings or ME page. I've been on Ebay now for just over a year, and I plan to stay indefinitely. If future fee increases make it unprofitable to have the number of items on Ebay directly that I would like to have listed eventually, I'll drop back to building my own site (which you can link to on your ME page) and keeping a small Ebay Store. Ebay isn't for everyone. You can look thru the AB archives in Store Fronts and maybe The Haul and read about mall sellers who closed their Ebay Stores for various reasons. None of the malls are for everyone, either, because no venue suits all sellers. Oh, and most people seem not to mention that with the fee increase for Stores, Ebay will be giving Stores items more visibility in searches. Stores items will now be displayed below short term Fixed Price listings when shoppers select to view only BIN items, no auctions.
