Eh the starter packs aren't really helpful IMO. shoot for Squier ( I'd get that over Ibanez because you can always get better electronics later on, but same may be possible for Ibanez. I myself don't own one) and get a 25W amp for good bedroom playing.

If you can find one, perhaps try the Dean EVO XM. I found that bass to be a good starter bass and it doesn't really need any work once bought. Plus, no terrible fret buzzing.
