Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: well their made for one sound for a reason...to sound better. a multi-effect unit has loads of stuff on it which is fine and dandy fora begginer or someone who just likes "cool" sounds, but for the best quality, sound, tone, sustain youl want a stompbox for each job. 1 for distortion, 1 for chorus, 1 for flange, etc. i mean why else would a company make a unit with 100 different sounds and cost 100$, but yet they make a stompbox for only 1 sound and it costs 50$ ?? its cus that 1 box will sound 10x better than the multi-unit. i have a digitech rp100 but the only time i ever use it is wen i cant plug my guitar in my amp. i grab some headphones and plug my guitar in the unit (since it has a built-in preamp) and play on the go. other than that when i want professional sound i grab my stompboxes.
