Posted at December 31, 1969, 6:00 pm: No shit dude. I am fully aware of those guys, especially considering Geezer and Harris are two of my favorite bass players. It just so happens that I am joining a band where I am playing already written basslines that require the use of a low B, and my guitar player will be playing a guitar tuned BEADGB at least half of the time. Luckily, I realized that since I play with such heavy strings, downtuning to BEAD on my 4 string MM is actually not hard at all. I've decided on the mandolin, if I can get a decent range in the 300 and less price range. If I can find the brice used, I'll get it. Besides, I might be getting a job anyway, if I can work out transportation and school and everything, so I'd might be able to get all three.
