Also pick up a book called "Photography" ( I think it's up to the 8th edition) It's a bit pricey but it's really worth it. You'll learn more than you thought possible by reading through that book. I'm sure you can find it at your local library too. It also talks of principles that apply to cinematography as well as design and can help you better understand composition, which will ultimately lead to taking much better shots.
