I have a cast iron pan that i stupidly left on the heat once and forgot it, then stupidly put cold water in it and now it sticks. I did try to reseason it, and it seems ruined. Maybe that's not the reason, but it seemed the most reasonable explanation. A friend had the same experience. Someone else i know actually warped her cuisinart pan. Yeah, to temper a knife it has to get red hot, but maybe the cold water does something? I'm no chemist, but that's teh explanation i read.
