I bought a Crib set from babyoutletbabyoutlet602000. I never received the furniture, however, received a photocopy picture of the furniture via UPS. I paid using Paypal, which was a total cost of $360. I was one of 21 people that were frauded and apparently the auction went on for two weeks.

Brief explanation of scam:
I spent a full weekend tracking down the coconspirators. I found that they both work for a scamming Internet marketing website. One individual whom is claiming that her paypal and eBay account information has been hijack reside in Warren Michigan. Ironically, less than two miles away from me. The other lives in St Joseph Missouri.

The scam went as follows. A crib set, which consists of a Crib, Chest, changing table and mattress, were published on eBay between the dates of 3/17/04 – 3/31/04. I made my purchase 3/27/04 item number 2390239356. The person that lives In Missouri she goes by April. Uses the persons that lives Warren, who goes by, Jennifer, Paypal and email accounts. The subject item arrived in a black and white print out copy of the furniture. Outraged, I sent email simply not to receive a response. At this point I became an Internet vigilante tracking info on these two and bridging their connection. First I tracked the email X-originating ip address to SBC in Kansas City Mo. Then I found the phone number of Jennifer and called her personally. That where she gave me her denial and said that it may have been a April in MO. I asked her for another email address to keep in touch. She gave me a yahoo account which her yahoo profile linked her to the www.momswin.com/jenniferb website which is a scamming website. So following the same logic I figured Id type www.momswin.com/aprilw. And sure enough I found April Wells. And traced her back to St Joseph Mo where the auction location was listed. For the buyers that wanted to pay by money order or check the eBay payment instructions required payment be made to April Wells and shipped to a St Joseph Mo address.

So you see here that Jennifer is claiming her ID was hijacked by someone in MO and this person that live in MO, April, did the eBay listing, email response, and paypal money transferring. And the connection is made. Later on I tracked down both of the coconspirators address, phone numbers, and true email addresses. Neither will respond to email nor voice mail that I may leave.

Actions currently taken:
Filed complaint with Paypal- which finds the seller at fault however cannot recover funds.
Pending to file a complaint with eBay – I have to wait 30 days after auction end.
Contacted ST Joseph MO Police department. Contact the Attorney General and consumer protection for MO. – out of jurisdiction.
File claim with the Internet Fraud Commission. No response
Filed a police with Warren Michigan – they responded that they are not technically capable of investigating the case.

What can I do?

So here it’s obvious that I made the connection of the conspirators and even know where they live. Does anyone know of a way of prosecuting these two a making the pay for what they did to 21 families buying baby furniture for the new born? I thought about filing small claims for the City of Warren. But Jennifer will simply say that her ID was hijacked and may cost more than I’m willing to additionally lose.

Sincerely,
Thomas Baker
