Posted at August 5, 2006, 5:30 am: Hoping for some advice from the many folks on here who've been there, done that. Back in March I started trying to bulk, not trying to do it particularly fast, but with as little fat gain as I could get away with. I started at 5'7" tall, 137 lbs. I started eating around 3000 cals per day, divided over 6 or 7 meals, in the neighborhood of 40/40/20 p/c/f, or thereabouts. I've been tracking my daily intake very carefully with FitDay since then, so I think my estimates are fairly accurate. This worked well for a few months. My weight went up a 1.5 to 2 pounds per week, and according to the BF analyzer, my BF was staying in the area of 10.5%. So I was obviously gaining a little fat, but the percentage was staying the same so I was gaining plenty of muscle. Then in June, something weird happened. The BF shot up around 2.5% in a matter of less than 3 weeks. I thought analyzer was messed up, but this was confirmed by what I saw in the mirror. Workout was the same, diet was the same. It coincided with my taking 6-oxo, and folks here suggested that it was the cause (possible water retention). Well I stopped taking the 6-oxo, and nothing changed. So I notched back the calories by about 300 cals per day to see what would happen. Now I'm stuck. I have stopped gaining weight. I started doing a 5x5 strength routine at the beginning of July and I'm making some strength gains, but the weight is pinned at 155. The only things that seem to be getting bigger are my love handles - I've gained about 3" on my waist since I started. I lift M,W,F now, and usually do about 25 minutes of intervals on the elliptical or bike on Tues and Thurs. Not quite sure which direction I should be going from here with the diet. I have the home version of FitDay so I can't direct anyone to it on the web, but I have attached an Acrobat document showing my meals on a typical workout day (I eat a little less on non-workout days). The workout is usually around noon, immediately followed by the PWO shake, and an hour later by lunch. Breakfast between 7 and 8 am, morning snack an hour before workout, afternoon snack around 5:30, dinner around 8:30, and nightime snack before bed.
