Hi,

I used to be a regular lurker on this forum a long time back, I had even posted pics and stuff asking for advice [I don't remember about what :/]

Anyways I recently joined a gym with one intention - To improving my raw strength

However I am kinda light [55kg] so the trainer at my gym said to stick to hindu push ups, pull ups, machine bench press, cable pull downs, rows, machine military press, leg press [the one where there is a smith machine kinda and you lie on your back and push the weight towards the wall] kinda exercises before I move onto bench press squats etc

It's been about 4 months since I joined, the first 2 months I was doing the same routine over despite him saying at max it'll go for a month.

However The stuff I read in multiple books\sites etc suggest there's no reason to postpone compound exercises if you start out with light weight and have a good spotter around to check your form...

Anyways at one point I stopped asking him for advice and got one of my friends to join too and watch over my form etc and now I am lifting 3 days a week with these lifts -

Hindu push ups
Pull ups
Clean and Press
Squats
Bench press
Deadlift
15 mins Gripwork n stomach

However I have a few questions regarding the exercises and my growth...

So it's been 2 months since I have been doing this, the problem is, I am still not able to do any of these lifts to my own weight, as in in CnP I started out doing 15kg, onto 20kg now doing 25, squats I started with 30kg, now doing 50, Bench press I started at 25kg onto 30 now doing 35, deadlift from 25kg onto 35kg

I do 2 sets of 6-8 reps with each of them.

Is it normal? I heard most people are able to squat\press more than their own weight, I try to gobble up every remaining scrap of food in my house :P

But I think I am coming slowly towards a point where I feel I won't be able to improve further [My bench press is especially horrible, last I increased weights in my lifts my bench press was the worst and decided to use the same weight for another week]

I just want to know if this is normal for everyone to go through, or is it I am just not working hard enough....should I go to the gym more days a week? Or simply wait and give it more time before I start lifting my own weight? or change my workout and use different lifts?

About the exercises -

Shouldn't the deadlift be easier than the squat? yet I am stuck to 35kg on the DL and yet, 50kg on squats :/

For max strength should I use the normal deadlift where I lift the weight while going down, bending my legs, keeping my back straight looking front[doing this...], or should I keep my legs stiff and move my back in a good morning way? [I think they are called Stiff legged deadlifts or sumthin...]

For squats should I go full ass to grass or the one I am doing the one where my thighs are a bit below parallel to ground level?

That's all the questions I have...for now :P
