I was planning on maxing my bench, squat, and deadlift next week. So I decided to take this past week very light. Yesterday was deadlift day and I was doing my first real set after warming up when on the 4th rep it felt like two things inside my left hamstring rubbed against each other and it felt wierd. I stopped there, but it was too late. I had a hard time bending over to pick anything off the ground. It felt a lot like some injuries I had sprinting a while ago. I put some ice on it right away, but as the day went on it got a lot worse. So I'm wondering--what the hell happened and how should I be treating this? A few points

-I pull sumo style
-my leg looks normal from the outside and there is no bruising
-I can walk, but have to take it kind of slowly (stairs are a little trickier)
-hard to pick stuff off of the floor
-my leg can make a curling movement with no difficulty or pain

Also, I'm pretty sure I warmed up very well. And like I said I wasn't really exerting myself all that much because I wanted to keep it light. Maybe I wasn't tight/focused enough? My hamstrings are also notoriously not flexible (yes, I know I should be stretching them...).

I think that's it. Can anyone help?

Sounds like a similar injury I got pulling conventional.

I'd lay off too, no sense in making it worse.

Well, I definitely plan on going easy for a while.

Drag the sled.

Yeah, I should definitely pick up a sled.

Could be just a pull, or maybe a slight tear, but I doubt the tear.

Its the same pull I had then.

How long did it take you to get back to normal?

woops, I didn't see this post yet.

Ouch.

To me that sounds like a grade 1 hamstring strain.

That's pretty similar to the sort of warmup I've been doing for a whil...

Haha, oh man I know the feeling.

If you're not recovered, DON'T PUSH IT.

Yeah, I'll do that.

Try some rack pulls Momo instead of deads for a while as they are nice...

I tore my hamstring too.
