I've had it with a$$holes who don't understand people who go the non traditional route. I'm in NYC this week visiting my mom and g'ma. I went with my mom to pick up my g'ma from the bridge club and she introduced us to her partner, this dude in his 70s.
So he asks if I go to school, I said nope - he asked if I had finished already - and I said no, that I don't plan on going to college. So suddenly Mr. Nice Guy goes away and he points at me like I'm his own kid and goes, "GO. If you don't go, you'll work at McDonalds for the rest of your life." and then he turns to my mom and said, "You're the parent. Make him go! Kick him in the pants and make him go." So my mom tells him to back off - that its not his job to tell her what to do and if I didn't want to go I didn't have too.
Well Old Man asks what I was going to do if I didn't go to school and I tell him that I'm working in a very fancy restaurant and that I'm writing a book about *******s like him who didn't understand people who made non traditional choices in order to experience the real world.
So he scoffs and looks at my mom and goes, "Great parent." and winks like he's the king of making decisions for other people.
How to you guys explain your decision to go the unexpected route in terms of anything: jobs, relationships, life, etc. How have people judged your decision without knowing you and why you did what you did?
I'm personally fed up with this sh*t. Next person that tries to warn me about the hellacious mistake I'm making by not going to college and the horrible failure I will become is gonna end up on life support.
