I searched around this forum, but didn't find any topics about (or even mention of) this band. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, Joy Electric isn't very well known. It's something of a one-man band, and pigeonholed as a Christian band usually. The guy is Christian, but he's not preachy with his music. Well, not most of the time... there is an album called CHRISTIANsongs Anyways, since 1996 he's been recording his albums using only analog synths. He went from using several different ones, to just a Roland System-100. Sometime in the summer of last year he got rid of his System-100 and switched over to the Voyager and some of the MoogerFoogers. His latest album and EP (The Ministry of Archers and Montgolfier) were done using those pieces (sequenced, of course)... no drum machines, no computer effects.

Below is a link to his MySpace band page... the songs "The Ministry of Archers" (one of my favorites) and "Quite Quieter Than Spiders" were from the last album, using the Voyager "The Fifth Point of the Compass" was also made with the Moog setup. "Wolf in the Bend" was done with the System-100, a CR-78, and Space Echo 201. Some pics of his setups (new & old) are in the profile too.
