What exactly are the differences between the old modules of yesteryear and the foogers?

Now the magazines describe one as "4 synth modules in 1"

I ask this because it appears that they are molded after a guitarists stomp boxes and not really marketed as synth modules persay.

Also, if you get the rack mount kit for the Moogers, can you hook just 1 or 2 into a kit and if you hook 3 together do you have to do away with a side panel or 2?"Music is the key to alleviate the sorrows of the soul

When you rack them, you do eliminate a couple of side cheeks.
