Posted at December 27, 2013, 11:12 am: Anyone looking to compete? I got this from Lisa Baron today. We are now taking applications for Captains to bring in teams for the 2007 National Pastry Team Championship. The competition will take place on July 2 & 3, 2007 at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee (http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylordopryland/). To qualify as a Team Captain: * You must be living and working as a pastry professional in the United States for no less than two years prior to the championship (that means you were in the U.S. and working as a pastry professional as of July 2, 2005). U.S. citizenship is not required. * One of the following is also required: A team captain must have Medaled in a recognized national or international pastry competition; Competed on a team (as captain or team member) in prior National Pastry Team Championship; Competed in event organized by Carymax, LLC such as a Food Network Challenge competition; Received recognition as one of Pastry Art & Design's 10 Best Pastry Chefs in America. If you, or someone you know is interested in competing and would like to submit their name for consideration as a team captain please email lisa@pastrychampionship.com before September 8, 2006 along with a bio and the names and bios of your team (if you have them). We can accomodate no more than 12 teams. The names and bios submitted will be sent to an outside committee who will choose the 12 team Captains. Consideration will be given to Captains with team members already in place and to those have competed in previous National Pastry Team Championships. Once the captains have been chosen and notified, the rules and theme will be released. While our mailing list is extensive - it isn't complete, so I hope you will help us to reach out to more pastry professionals around the United States. P.S. The 2008 World Pastry Team Championship will be August 31 & September 1, 2008 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel, Nashville. So for those of you outside of the U.S. receiving this email, please feel free to contact me about bringing in a team from your country. Our aim is to have the teams for the world event set this fall as well.
