I can't slice onions. I can slice wedges but not uniform slices. There must be some device out there similar to an egg slicer or a bread slicer that will hold the onion and guide the knife to make a uniform slice. My mandolin won't do the job because an onion is too tough and bends the blade. Is there any other device around or do I just need a tougher mandolin?

what about practising? it's really not that hard to learn to slice ...

a sharp knife and practice is all you need.
