What a surprise! We had run the gammut of the much touted New Orleans fare, spending thousands of dollars during our stay in the French Quarter, and frankly we were disappointed. The food seemed voluminous, but bland. We would have rather had less food displayed on our plates with higher quality. BUT then one day, while in Jackson Square, we stumbled in to a small cafe, Cafe Madeleine (sp?). What a delight!!! Great food, excellent, enthusiastic service with a French accent, and a fun atmosphere
We were told that the cafe is owned by a French national, (don't know if this is true) but the setting and service was very similar to our food forays in Paul Bocuse country, Lyon and the surrounding countryside. We heartily recommend Cafe Madeleine!!
