Posted at September 27, 2013, 12:23 am: Well, horrible to my previous employer, anyway. I'm not usually like this, either, which really begs the question of how completely unhappy I was working there. I stopped showing up for work at the grocery I'd been employed at for about 6 months on Saturday. I did so for one reason and one reason only: the manager was using me as an excuse to yell at another employee. I had gotten another job at night and they had double scheduled me even though I had let them know two weeks ahead of time that I needed nights off. So I scrambled to find someone to work for me and never found anyone for the Saturday shift. I ended up finding someone for the Tuesday shift, but in order for the person to work for me I had to take her Saturday shift...which left me working 10 hours instead of five. Perfectly fine with me, done it before. Come to find out ON that Saturday that he went to the person who was working for me on Tuesday and yelled at her, saying that it was on her head if I didn't show up on Saturday. So I worked that whole Saturday without a complaint or a lunch to boot and then just stopped going in. I know it was the wrong thing to do. I know it makes me look bad. I know it's going to follow me around for the rest of my life. I know that I'm going to have to put down on a resume that I worked for this guy and that he is going to say that I just stopped showing up for work one day. But **** it, I'm sorry...having someone yell at someone else for something that should be my responsibility with the added bonus of the fact that it makes me like a complete flake to boot just pissed me off enough to not care. I'd NEVER just not show up for work. If I'm sick I always call first, as early as possible. I've never just called in to a job because I wanted the day off. I'd never given him ANY reason to think I wouldn't show up that day. The fact that he used that to yell at another employee makes me really mad. I don't ever want to work for this guy again. I've also decided that I'm done with any part time jobs at grocery stores. Both stores I've worked at were horrible experiences. I'm now looking for a job in a restaurant with a boss that doesn't treat his female employees like crap. Oh, and another thing: there is not ONE female in that place in a position higher than cashier. Makes me wonder. Anyway, I had to rant. I know I also did an ******* thing...but I can't convey here how much what he said and did made me angry.
