eBay told Andale users it would discontinue access to Checkout Redirect through the Andale platform beginning on February 1, 2006 (http://auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y05/m11/i29/s01) in a move that puzzles and angers both Andale and some of its customers."

I would hate to say I told you so ... but this could be just the 1st of many developers to feel the pinch as eBay uses developers to test viable markets and then brings the services in house to reap the profits. To think that eBay would take such drastic measures simply based on 2 days of outages seems absurd. To think that eBay is using that as an excuse to close out Andale’s presence on eBay ... now that seems to make much more sense.

Most recently eBay has allowed research development with both Terapeak and Hammertap ... and most recently released their own marketplace research tool to compete. Consider this a developer beware.
