Posted at May 16, 2006, 9:23 am: After three years of trying to talk her into giving it a shot, I finally convinced my wife to create a Party account to play online. Yesterday I sent an email to Party's customer service to confirm that it was permissible for her to have an account even though we lived at the same address and to confirm that she could fund the account via a transfer from my account (she doesn't have or want a Neteller account). They responded with a message that not only stated it was permissible, but suggested that we use the Tell-A-Friend option to get us both a bonus. This morning, I called Party's customer service center to confirm the contents of the email response and to ensure that creating the new account for my wife was okay. They assured me that it was fine and again suggested that we use the Tell-A-Friend option to ensure we got a bonus, which would even work with a transfer of funds (most bonuses require a deposit rather than a transfer). After the call, I followed the advice I received from both email and telephone support and created an account for my wife. I used the code they said to use and tranferred $200 over for her to play with. The funds went through just fine and she logged in to play for a while before getting off to go eat lunch. When she came back and tried to log in, she got a message that the account had been closed and called me in a panic. I tried to log in to my account and got the same message. I called in to CS again to find out what happened. They tranferred me to "Investigations", who informed me that the accounts had been closed due to the fact that they were based out of the same address. I informed him that I had checked not once, but twice with CS to confirm that it was ok for us to both have accounts using the same address and that the whole reason I had contacted CS was to avoid just this type of problem. His response was esssentially that it is perfectly fine but we always freeze the acounts and make you prove you are two people, but couldn't explain why they didn't inform me of this before going through all the drama. Party may have great bonuses and tons of fish, but the CS is just atrocious. It took me three years to convince my wife to try playing online and the very first day she decides to give it a go they freeze her account and deny her access to her money. I doubt I'll ever get her to play again even after the whole thing is sorted out. What a great fucking way to treat a new customer.
