Hello

I’m a father of an artistically talented high school senior and she is seriously considering a career in graphic design. As I am a professional photographer, I’m sensitive to the accelerating changes in my own field; especially technology, client relations and global markets

My questions (and concerns) are: Is the field of Graphic Design (GD) radically reinventing itself also? With so many GD Schools and University Programs in this field, just how crucial is the reputation GD School/Program and diversity of the GD curriculum?Given a 5 – 15 year outlook, how will outsourcing/offshoring impact the GD employment outlook in the USA?I’m particularly curious about the future risk to GD employment due to the offshoring of GD work.
I have some appreciation of just how significant the amount of Animation/Cartoons Graphic work has left the USA workforce, to the shores of India, Hong Kong and other nations. All made possible by the extremely competent artists of India et. al., working at a much lower net cost to the client and the ability to work, real-time, via intercontinental fiber-optic cables

Is this, at least in part, the future of Graphic Design too

Please let me know
