Posted at April 13, 2006, 1:21 pm: Okay, this is just one guy's subjective opinion after one night of play at poker room. I play NL. I normally play NL50 to NL200. This is in response to another thread, where someone was asking about it. The setup: I downloaded the software through BW, planning to take the 7x bonus. I screwed up somewhere -- apparently I had signed up here a long time ago, as my screen name was taken and so was my email...hmmm...okay, no 7x bonus, even though I've never put money there. So I took the reload instead...10x, $150. I bought in for $500, which was what I needed to get the $150 bonus. I started play at NL50, because that's what I do whenever I start somewhere new. Game selection: TONS of tables available. Sat at 3 NL50s, and didn't have any of the same people at multiple tables, which is good and bad, because I can't transfer reads on them, but they can't transfer their reads on me, either. I played full ring, and there were at least ten tables with either 8 or 9 people at them to choose from with no waiting, plus a bunch more that were at the max of ten. Player quality: Again, this is a one night snapshot -- but think party poker quality. Pretty loose, all different styles of players, and a lot of one dimensional players. Aggressive play, my norm, was rough, because preflop raises weren't limiting the field much, and it was impossible to read a guy who called your continuation bet because someone was calling every bet. I actually ended up making my money by picking off the over aggressive players who tried to bluff too much despite poor position...gotta love those one trick ponies. The good: Short time clocks make the game go quicker. The bad: The game interface--good lord it sucks. I couldn't even 3 table it was so bad -- ended up down to two. The table doesn't come forward when it's your turn to act (although maybe i missed an option somewhere -- I still have to check). And it seems to be really resource intensive, locking stuff up. But at first look, this is the worst site I've played for the mechanics of the game play. Can you clear the bonus at NL50? Uh, yeah...really easy. I think about every hand was raked. No kidding. Either someone raised 4x BB and there were 2-3 callers, or on the few hands that nobody raised preflop there were 5-6 limpers. Of course by only 2 tabling I'll need 150% the normal time, but such is life. Tonight I'm going to the NL100...maybe more on that tomorrow.
