Today I had this guy ask me to do him a website with a shopping cart. He was computer illiterate, so it took a while to get out that he wanted an e-commerce website to sell products.

He hinted at paying anything from $3000 up for the whole deal. I turned him down because I have no experience with the whole e-commerce solution, yet.

The job would be: design up from scratch and entering all his product pictures and detail into a e-commerce database. (not mantaining the site, just getting it started)

Did I make a mistake or am I in over my head? Is $3000 good money for this job?

Anyone with experience in this particular niche' care to share some tips, stories, etc?
