Pacific Poker parent company Cassava Enterprises is expected to make an initial public offering (IPO) in the second half of 2005. In March Cassava hired Credit Suisse First Boston to prepare the float, with an initial value of about $1.6 billion. If the IPO route is taken, the company would list on the London Stock Exchange.

Reuters and other mainstream press outlets have rumored that post-IPO Cassava would move to merge or acquire Pokerstars, the #2 largest online cardroom. Besides PacificPoker.com, Cassava owns the well-known Casino on Net/888.com online casino. The combination of Casino on Net with Pokerstars would create a powerhouse online gambling company.
