With all these people having money stolen from their accounts at various sites, I think a discussion regarding computer/network security is in order. So, here are some questions to get the ball rolling...

What antivirus software and antispyware programs are you using? What are your personal favorites?
What do you do to secure your wireless connection?
Do you have any other tips to maximize your computer's security?

I myself am using McAfee's Security Center. It came bundled with my new Dell and its virus scan seems to be pretty effective. (The other features such as privacy control, firewall and spamkiller are redundant on my system and have some rather annoying features.) For spyware, I'm running Windows Defender 2. I have have Windows Firewall enabled.

I feel that my wireless connection is rather secure. I use WPA encryption with a really long passcode (like 30 characters). I do not broadcast my SSID. I've turned off the UPnP features on my router and have created a MAC filter so only computers can obtain an IP addy. Remote management has been disabled. Obviously, I have changed the default router password as well.

My other tip, if you're running an XP machine, is to go to www.grc.com and run ShieldsUp to make sure XP vulnerabilities are secured. Also, if you're currently testing Windows Vista Beta 2, it's probably best not to use it to play poker on it since who knows what kinds of security exploits are just lurking in its code.
