Posted at July 2, 2006, 1:27 am: I started this as a response post about the "who owns BW" scandal , but then it got really long and started touching a lot of different areas of this war, so I thought I'd make my own topic. Here's my take on things. If anyone cares. If you don't, then don't read it. Feel free to respond saying it's too long or you don't care, because those responses are always very valuable, and everyone cares about your post count. ---------------------------- Imagine Jek does own BW outright. If he were to have told a few people the truth (which he may have, namely at least Jim), and told everyone else that someone else bought it, everyone that knew would have been like "yeah, alright, covering his ass, that makes total sense," as I imagine Jim did when Jek told him, assuming this is the case. It is not until there's a "war" that everyone cares. That seems wrong. I don't know which is true, and frankly, I don't care. Like Jek said, it won't affect us, and day-to-day ops will remain the same. Everyone's spouting all this shit about how any person that lies even a little is someone that you have to hate, but does anyone remember the casino forums and how many people posted bullshit bonuses to try and get a bunch of strangers to lose their money? I was one of very few posting against seemingly everyone that this was wrong, and was constantly argued against. But now there's a "war" on, and honesty is everything? Someone jumped on CHE because he was SUPPOSEDLY going to do something that might inconvenience a few strangers for his own personal gain, or even for his own personal protection, as though this is outlandish or ridiculous. I don't know exactly what's going on, but for god's sake, you guys are poker players. Many people make a living here doing exactly that. This is not the place to get all uppity about morals. That being said, I do think it would be unfortunate if admins were reading the PMs on this board, although I understand why they have the ability. In their defense, though, I think one should consider it from BW's perspective. Someone they've considered a friend and who has access to a lot of sensitive information has just declared war on them, and made a whole lot of threats. I'd probably moniter said friend's PMs on my site, too, because I don't want someone using my own system to fuck me over if I can avoid it. I like to think I wouldn't, but hey, I probably would. I think this whole thing would be so much more easily fixed if people could just talk to one another without fear. I feel like Jek and Jim could just get on aim and be straight up with each other and it'd be alright. Maybe you guys should try that. I mean, management was created because of fear of this type of problem. Jek wanted a change, but the members of the forum were the sort that can make threats that you actually believe (i mean hell, a bunch of people tried to find my myspace. Creeepy...). So, he directed much of that ensuing bitching to a third party. I bet if he could have just told Jim et al. to tone it down a bit and actually expect results, he would have much rather done that. Perhaps he could have, but it was his call as admin/(owner?), and he made it as best he could. So now we have AG, which is a similar forum with fewer, wealthier people, fewer rules, and less publicity. And no apparent way of making money. Which is fine, because maybe some guys just want a place to hang out and shoot the shit. Seems like an awful lot of work, money, and drama has gone into making that, though. I mean, it seems like everything that goes on at AG could happen here, as long as avatars and personal abuse are toned down. Maybe AG could even be made into a private forum a la old casino PF. The only thing in the way is this huge exploding string of grudge matches everywhere. Everyone just talk on AIM and sort this shit out, it's getting old and way too public. Sometimes I wonder why I'm still here. I imagine that many others do, too . I think it's because this is like watching reality television, with all of the alliances, accusations, and drama, only fewer cameras and no commercials. Incidentally I hate reality television. Weird. This is my submission to Jim's essay contest. Not really, it's just long. I imagine it wouldn't be considered anyways, as I'm not generally liked over there. There's this one guy who made his only 3 posts JUST for the sake of bashing me, and it wasn't even really on topic. Kinda pathetic and weird, but at least he got what he deserved by having everyone think it was me. I'd post this post there, but I can't because they say no hotmail accounts and I don't trust Jim with my school addy. Not that he's not trustworthy, just 'cause he's made personal threats to me before. Anyone wanna crosspost? Probably not. Ah, well. I'd like to see it there, anyways, but I just don't care that much.
