Posted at February 22, 2006, 1:20 pm: Okay, totally off of the wall, but it's been bugging me for awhile. By the end of this month, I should reach the $10000 mark in bonus poker and casino whoring. Thanks to everyone here in all of their help, including the BW hierarchy. Now, I'm primarily full table, low limit...fixed limit if I can get it, but over the last 1-2 months, I've switched up from limit to NL due to places like Martins and the like, where limit games are scarce. But I shy away from tournaments. I haven't done a tournament in months. While I enjoyed the challenge, they seem a little too random and a little too hard (for me, of course) to clear money from them, while there's free money to be had in the ring games for those of us who may not be as skilled, but have the patience to wait out the number of hands required to clear a bonus. But the siren call of the MTT is hard to deny. I flip through Super System 2, and there's the "tournament" section. You turn on ESPN, and there are a gaggle of unknown players all vying for a bracelet. I've got a half a dozen emails in my inbox from different rakeback sites all offering chances for seats at the next WSOP. My freakin fiancee's brother (who got me started in this whole poker mess in the first place), is a math wizard who plays only tournaments, and it irks me to hear him win hundreds (or thousands) in a night when I grind away for days to take home my meager winnings. So I guess the questions (sorry for the ramble/backfill): 1) Does anyone else feel this way? 2) Does anyone do tournaments on top of regular whoring? 3) Anyone here actually trying for a seat at a WPT or WSOP style event? As nice as it is to be able to make money doing what I'm doing, I can't help but think that I may be missing a part of the bigger picture here. I'd like to hear other's views on this.
