Posted at June 11, 2005, 1:14 am: Quick update since Jek is waiting for me in the bar. Event 9 of the WSOP saw three whores. Myself, JPMcMoney and Neil "Uncle Surly". We traded 5% in each other and had a $20 side bet to see who went farther. Mrs Jek held the money (apparently in her bra!). Jek also bought 5% of JP. 1,400 people entered the event and it paid top 140. First place was over $600,000. JP and I were sitting pretty close to each other with Neil about 9 tables away. Neil had Annie Duke at his table and she got clobbered. During the first blind level (one hour) I got AK twice, KK, JJ twice, 88 three times, 77 twice and 44! Didn't get much action and ended the first blind slightly up. At the first break, two hours in, I was up to 3,100. Neil had about 2,800 and I think JP was around 1800. We started with 2000. I had gotten cold and it continued for a few hours. JP got no luck and sadly busted out around 800 I think. I was shocked to see him go and Neil and I talked to him for a few minutes. Play grinded on for quite a while. The table I was on was really tight while Neil's table constantly had new players. Sometime after the second break Neil busted and I was the only whore left. I had gotten down to 1,100 chips but had slowly built myself back up. After level two I was never above the average chip stack but I still played some of my best poker ever. Managed to steal a few blinds and got my money in with the best hands and they actually held up. Dinner break came after six hours of play. 280 players remained. I met the whores (Jek, JP, Neil, Dan, ZDawg, Colorado, Mrs Jek and Chris) and we had dinner at the steakhouse. Service sucked even though Mrs Jek kept on them to hurry my food since I only had an hour. I finished when everyone else was halfway done and made it back with 41 seconds to spare. Play grinded on forever with no notable hands. Three of my tables were broke so I was constantly the new guy and I didn't have impressive chip stack. Finally it was down to 200. Average stack was 14,000 and I had about 7,000. I was down to 5500 with 180 left when I had ATo in BB. The big stack who was pretty loose raised 1200 and I pushed all in. He asked for time and thought about it forever. Even though I was low stack I had a pretty good table image by now. Finally he called me and showed pocket 10's. An Ace hit the turn and I doubled up!!! We got down to 142 players and I was in SB with 11,500 chips. I looked down at JJ. I had just folded KQs in the BB and had folded pocket 8's a few hands earlier. Cutoff raised to 3000 (blinds were 400/800 with 100 ante) and I thought about pushing. He had me outchipped close to 3-1 and I really didn't want to bubble. I thought about it for about a minute and folded. He was kind enough to show me AQs. A few hands later 141 busted AND WE WERE IN THE FUCKING MONEY!!! I won a nice hand and was up to 15,000 and I got JJ again. EP had limped and loose MP player raised 2500. I called him and EP pushed allin. MP called and I sadly folded. MP had KQo and EP had AA and hit his set. I was pretty fucking glad I folded! Blinds were killing me and with almost 7,000 chips I raised allin on the button with AKo. MP had made a small raise and he called with 66. Nothing improved and I finished 130th out of 1,400. Men "The Master" finished 131 which made me feel good. Most pro's had busted by then. I went to collect my money and Phil Hellmuth congratulated me. Then Andy Bloch came up, he had remembered me from yesterday and congratulated me. He had busted in level 5. Places 110 - 140 paid $2,325 so after over eleven hours I made a whopping $325! But I finished in the money in my first WSOP event. Plus I get to rub it in Dan's face since he said I didn't have a shot. I'm on cloud nine right now. I would have loved a higher finish but my goal was to make the money and I achieved it. JP and Neil paid me my $20 for lasting longer and they get back $16.75 for their 5% of profit.
