I'm doing this thread to keep track of my stuff. It feels like I've improved some since I started it. Nowadays I'm in artschool for half-time. Nothing fancy, just a high school level class for learning some basics. Been there for half a year and I feel more encouraged to continue with my art career than I was before. I believe I found something I like
Anyways, to something that matters.
I am going to apply for college in two months, still haven't decided wich one. I believe it's going to be another one year class of basics before trying the bigger ones, probably in america.
The important part - Please read!
I need a portfolio, and I am not sure which of my works that will give me the highest odds of making it into a good artschool. I spoke to my teacher, she's not really into concept art but neither is she against it. She told me that she had been in one of these 'jurys' while doing her year at one of the schools I'm applying for. She said that it didn't really matter for the teachers how long you had been doing art, or how good you are (in terms of technical skills or such). She said that the teachers often picked out the people that seemed to have most fun doing art, or that they believed could improve the most. According to her, I could have as good chance to make it into schools with stuff I made when I was 10 years old as with my current works.
So really, what should I do? Pick out the pieces I spent most time doing, the ones other people have commented the most or the stuff I like the most?
Most schools have limits to how many works you can submit or they want originals..
Perhaps what I really try to say is. Help me pick out works for a portfolio that will get me into college.
I know where I want to get with my art, but not the right way there..

Hi!
I'm an 18 year old guy that lives in Sweden. At the moment I am a beginner, but hopefully I'm going to change that. Currently I'm studying at a science/nature school but after graduating I'm going to start at a artschool for basics, and I hope to be able to apply for a bigger 'real' school after doing so.
I'm a fan of anime-ish concept art like Ayame Kojima (Castlevania art) and Hyung Tae Kim (a Korean, war of genesis III) but I'm not into drawing anime. I also have many idols at the forum, like Marko Djurdevic, Insane_visions, wes , MindCandyMan (his fast improvement encourages me alot!) and many others. I'm really happy I found this forum (gotta thank Calle_ for that) cause it inspires me and some help from fellow art-friends, thanks
At the moment I don't use anything else than pencil and paper (with the exception of some markers and ballpointpens or such). I feel it's necessary to llearn the basics before starting using colours or other advanced techniques. I believe starting with things that's to hard can disencourage me from continuing drawing, I know since I often get mad when my drawings don't turn out the way I want them
