Hey my name is Spencer, I'm seventeen, and this is my sketchbook thread where I will be posting recent and brand new works. I have had the privelege to study with extremely talented artists such as Greg Mansi, Justine Bruner, Tim McGuire, Adrian Gottlieb, Paul Wee, Ron Brown, Aaron Westerberg, Glen Villpuu, Wendy Vanguard, Nathan Fowkes, Leonard Simkin, and Sirappio Calm thanks to my family for driving me back and forth from class countless times. Please feel free to offer suggestions and critique any of my work.
Here is a recent drawing I did from life. About an hour and a half done in charcoal on toned paper. I need some help on going further and observing more subtleties in value. I establish the blocks of light and dark, but after that I seem stuck

Here is a drawing from another artist's self-portrait that I found in a book called "The Art of Responsive Drawing". I apologize because I don't have the artists name but perhaps I'll edit this post to fill it in

This is a 3-hour painting from life in Oil. (Burnt Umber and White) I'm not sure why it turned out so orange in the photo but oh well. I'm proud of this even though it's not a very interesting angle because I described the planes of his face better than I usually do

This is a fairly recent drawing from life done at Glen Villpuu's head drawing class. 3 hour pose with Faber-Castell pencil

Here is another farily recent work from one of John Singer Sargent's drawings. Done with black ballpoint pen

Here is a drawing from life in Faber-Castell pencil and china marker for the highlights

These are 30 second poses from life

These are 2 to 5 minute poses

These are all 5 minute poses
