I'm busy getting workers compensatiion insurance (aka workers comp) for my employees.

It turns out it is mandatory in all US states except Texas.

Important is that one gets the best classification. It is the difference betwene paying a few $100 or $1000 plus.

In our case it is the difference between $240 or $1450 per employee per year!

While our insurance agent originally told us that we should be classified as retail (being an online business selling antique items), so the least expensive classificxation, the state agency's burocrats demand we be classified as a wholesale business, which is very expensive. They contend that, although in the literal sense we are not wholesalers, in the definition by the state any online business we are.

Did any of you get a better classification from his state that wholesale? If so, how did you get that done? Did any of you find a way to dispute the classification (we do not seem to have any recourse)?Peter
