While trying to ship a piece of original artwork, I learned that UPS will not accept responsibility for anything that can't be replaced ....like heirlooms, antiques, original art.

While a UPS store might "accept" your package.. the fine print says that "declared value" wil not be accepted for such items.

What this means is that UPS will accept your insurance money, but if you file a claim..you won't be covered.

I sent my auction item through the post office as registered mail. They will accept responsibility up to $25,000 and you can send anything of value including diamonds.

As registered mail, it is kept locked up and must be signe by anyone that touches the package.

Not only is my expensive item fully protected ....it turns out to be significantly cheaper than UPS.
