Well, I think I've missed the obvious - common for me, I admit - in that I used the book formula for an ecto to determine my "goal" calories. But instead of using the actual 2500 plan - I didn't see how I'd actually eat so much, for one thing - I used the formula of 36-40 x bodyweight/kg, and used that value for my daily meals.

Now that I've done so for the past week or so, it has finally sunk in to me that the plans are deliberately overloaded with food, and presumably I've failed to stoke the fires, as it were.

At the moment I'm trying to bump up my calories - just as I'm trying to eat the suggested refeed items - but I wonder if the plan works best if one starts at the top, and then cuts back, rather than starting low, and adding calories? As a long-term low-carber, I thought this would be an interesting question to pose...
