I've always stretched before a workout and i use to stretch after but is it really nessecery to stretch after?

and one other thing...when i am about to start my workout, should i go for a say....5 min bike ride to get my blood going? or can i go for like say 3 sets of 8 squats with like 45 lbs each side.....just to get the blood going?

it's good if you stretch both before and after, yes.

As Rachel mentioned, yes it's good to stretch before and after.

Warming up is a personal thing.
