hey guys, ive read that a very wide stance during squats helps when you are powerlifting and that a more narrow, about shoulder width stance is preferred for those bodybuilding.

is this the case? what are the advantages/disadvantages to varying stances and what does each one do. i believe that feet pointed outward is a hack squat and should work the 'teardrop' more so. is this the case as well? just curious, cuz i tend to switch my stances up often to hit different angles.
