Posted at April 29, 2015, 7:05 pm: I have been looking at some contest photos on graphicmuscle.com a question came to mind okay, a guy from my gym competed in the 2005 NPC nats...he finished pretty far down in the lightweights he is about 5'5" okay, the guy that won and got his pro card is obviously like 3" shorter....there are pics of them bacstage standing next to each other....the guy who won, the top of his head comes up to my buddys ear, lol so, going by that I can understand how the shorter guy has MUCH more mass at the same bodyweight...plus its all packed in tighter due to his shortness so the illusion makes him look bigger ok, all that I understand but how is it that 2 guys can be about the same height, in the same weight class, yet one guy just look WAY bigger?? and again, I have competed in powerlifting so I know a little about "making weight" and then rehydrating/carbing up afterwards or whatever...some of the PL meets have 48 hr weigh ins, lol....so the guy makes the weigh in at the 181 limit, and when he steps on stage 2 days later to lift he weights 218, lol so how do the weigh-ins go at the NPC nats?? are they that morning? couple hours before the show or what?? is it just a matter of rehydrating after the weigh in? what else explains, for instance, why the guy from my gym looks fairly scrawny, yet he is the same weight and basic height as the others?? how does that work....I am not getting it I could see it if there were only like 2 weight classes so there would be a lot of variance...but the NPC nats has 7 classes, lol...he was lghtweight but if he was THAT much lighter than the other guys he'd be down in bantamweight anyone got any ideas on this?
