Hi. I'm looking for some feedback on suggestions on this situation. A buyer purchased an item from me in December 2005. They never paid. I sent them e-mails and they never responded. Finally, I opened an unpaid item dispute and still never received payment or a response. I subsequently re-listed and re-sold the item.

This week I received a communication from the buyer. I suspect they are trying to buy again and having difficulties because of the Dispute. The buyer stated that there is an unresolved open unpaid item dispute which they would like to address - nearly a year later. They also state that they don't remember the transaction at all.

I have a copy of one of the e-mails I sent and have forwarded that to the buyer. As this issue is 10 months old - there is no information on eBay in either Disputes or Archived items. (I hate that you can't access information past such a short timeframe but I know it's a space issue).

Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to handle this? I no longer have the item for the buyer. If I just close the dispute it seems unfair to other Sellers who could end up in the same position but I don't want to be inflexible either.
