Hi Everyone,

This is the first time I have used this forum so I do not really know the protocol, but I hope that in the future I will prove to be a valuable member and help you all where I can.

The reason I joined primarily though was to ask if anyone knew anything about the Royal Worcester factory artist Edward Salter. I know that he worked with Royal Worcester roughly between 1876 and 1902 and specialised in painting landscapes & fish. He was a keen fisherman, and a member of the still thriving St. Johns Amateur Fishing Association (now simply St' Johns Fishing Association) in Worcester.

The reason I want to find out about him (and have found out about his fishing hobbies!) is that I have recently acquired a trophy comissioned by the St. Johns fishing association in 1898. It bears the Royal Worcester puce mark and is signed by Salter. It is an incredibly impressive piece and both I would be very graeful to anyone who could provide any information about the artist. I hear he was quite a prestigious name, but can find very litle comprehensive info about him just odds and ends.
