I have a tiny sterling silver ladle that came from my grandmother's estate. It's a fiddleback pattern, and the piece is about 5 1/2" long. The bowl is just under 1" in diameter. The back is stamped "T.Goldsmith", and there are 3 marks side-by-side. The first is a D. The second, assuming it is oriented the same way, looks like it might be an eagle with spread wings, but it is very worn and is no clearer with magnification. The third mark is equally worn, but looks like it might be a head (bust) facing to the left. I don't have the proper equipment to get any helpful photographs of the markings.

The front of the handle is engraved "M.E. Wood". The last person named Wood in my family tree was born in 1844, and her initials were not "M.E.", so I'm guessing this may have belonged to her mother, whose name I don't know.

So I have two questions: First, can someone tell me what the name of this piece is? A condiment ladle, maybe? And also, can someone help me identify the maker or at least narrow down the date?
