Posted at September 23, 2006, 9:48 am: Howdy from Texas. Miss me? I have been in Canada for 2 wks. Stayed mostly in Edmonton, Alberta which is booming BTW but also got to believe it or not play in the snow. A fluke snow of almost a foot came to parts of Canada for one weekend just for me. Traveled a round trip from Edmonton to Hinton to Jasper then Banff then to one of the most beautiful places on earth surely. Canmore!!! Surrounded by huge mountains I felt like I was in a Swiss or German village. I expected to see Heidi running around. Stunning place everywhere you turn with nice shops. Advertising would be a cinch for this place. Dream more in Canmore could be the slogan. This whole drive of highway 93 is amazing though with animals and crystal lakes and ponds amidst huge mountains. There is this place called Athabasca Falls everyone has to see once. There is also a glacier field. One could spend a lifetime looking at all this beauty. Mercy! http://www.canmorealberta.ca/travelalberta.html I will put some photos up soon. In Edmonton I bought as much as I could haul back. New Christmas inventory. I tried to stay with linens and even bought a like new lovely vintage suitcase to put them in and then I was concerned the airline would destroy this so I got another old suitcase to put it in. Needless to say I had to pay extra for poundage at the checkin. All my loonies were left in Canada. Did get to visit 3 antique malls near each other in Edmonton though the whole point of the trip was to get away from antiques. (yeah right) Had a lovely visit to a place called Mildreds: Mildreds Collectibles & Antique Furniture 780-438-0368 6814 104 St, Edmonton, AB T6H 2L1 It was Mildreds birthday the day before and I was offered a piece of great chocolate cake and a cup of tea in a Royal Albert cup. Every good Texan knows you give a visitor something to eat. This shop has about a zillion teacups and saucers, Paragon galore. Moorcroft, Belleek, Royal Doulton, Coalport and just tons of quality gorgeous other stuff as well. Very nice people. I also went to Rocky Mountain Antique Mall and they were also very nice and offered me a cup of coffee. A wide array of items. Rocky Mountain Antique Mall 780-485-0020 7025 Gateway Boulevard NW, Edmonton, AB T6H 2J1 I also went to this one and it had lots of stuff. Old Strathcona Antique Mall 780-433-0398 7614 Gateway Boulevard NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 4Z8 ---------------- Came back to Edmonton thru Calgary. Canada was a fabulous place to visit but I am glad to be home and my doggie Precious is really happy to see me also. From reading all the postings here and Ina's great polls it seems this business is as usual.
