this ones actually called a lazy-dazy cake, from the southern heritage cakes cookbook from southern living.

2 eggs
1 C sugar
1 C all-purpose flour
1 tspn baking powder
1/4 tspn salt
1/2 C milk, scalded
1 Tbs. butter, softened
1 tspn. vanilla extract
Topping (recipe follows)

Beat eggs; gradually add sugar, beating well. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to egg mixture, beating well.

Combine milk and butter, stirring to melt butter; add to flur mixture, beating well. Stir in vanilla.

Pour batter into a greased and floured 8" square pan. Bake at 350degrees for 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

Immediately pour topping over cake in pan; broil 1 to 2 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into squares to serve

Topping:
1/2 C plus 1 Tbs. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 C plus 1 Tbs. butter, melted
1/4 C half-and-half
1/2 C flaked coconut
1/2 C chopped pecans

Combine all ingredients, stirring well. Yeild: enough for one 8" cake
